Polar Plunge 2020
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with our friend and international powerlifting champion Ryan J. Stills and his gym, Odd Barbell, to form Team Swolesquatch for the 2020 Special Olympics Oregon Polar Plunge! Last year, Special Olympics Oregon was forced to cancel their winter games for the special athletes across the state due to a lack of funds so we're hoping for a great outpouring of generosity for the 2020 year.
The Special Olympics organization has been close to the heart of Swolesquatch founder Patrick Smith, who's mom served as special education teacher for many years before transitioning into a supervisory role while his wife, Nicole, has been a special education teacher in her own right for nearly 15 years.
Before parlaying his design skills into creating the Swolesquatch brand, Patrick helped design numeous Special Olympics tee shirts for his local events before moving to Oregon in 2014. He also previously participated in both the Polar Plunge and Plane Pull fundraising events as a member of the Oregon Department of Corrections teams before creating Team Swolesquatch.
